CNC Turning

CNC Turning

CNC turning is a manufacturing process in which bars of material are held in a chuck and rotated while a tool is fed to the piece to remove material to create the desired shape. A turret (shown center), with tooling attached is programmed to move to the bar of raw material and remove material to create the programmed result. Turning is a machining process used to make cylindrical parts. Our cutting tool moves in a linear fashion while the workpiece rotates.

This type of subtraction machining involves material removal, which allows us to create custom parts and shapes for your fabrication needs.

 The Benefits of CNC Turning

Computer numerical control turning, or CNC turning, is a process that uses a computer to create accurate, detailed digital blueprints. These blueprints can be used for processes such as selective plating, cylindrical OD/ID grinding, and more. This technology has become increasingly popular over the years, for reasons such as:

  • Increased production speed: Since CNC turning relies on a computer to fabricate digital blueprints, the process can be completed fairly quickly. The computer is likely to make less errors than a human and can simply be completed faster.
  • Cost-effective: Instead of having blueprints created by hand, you can greatly reduce the amount of money you spend on wages. This means companies like Ace Roll & Shaft can pass the cost savings down to you, resulting in a high-quality product at a fair price!
  • Safer operations: In tandem with a smaller payroll, CNC turning can result in safer operation because there is less human contact with potentially dangerous machinery. This greatly reduces the risk of someone getting hurt during the process!

These are only a few of the benefits that come with using CNC turning and precision machining equipment. Most importantly, it results in an accurate and fairly priced end product that you can rely on. When you need CNC turning, grinding, milling, or honing, we are the company to work with.
